About the artwork

Mountain rapids forests bright summer nights. When Jämtlands Turistförening is describing the county of Jämtland in the early 1940s, these are the words that are chosen to complement this harmonious illustration of Tännforsen. The couple, who enthusiastically look out over the roaring rapids (even though it looks a little dangerous to sit there on the edge), make us long for the serenity of Jämtland’s nature.

Did you know that Tännförsen is Sweden’s largest waterfall, with a drop of 37 meters? On the poster, the stone Björnstenen (the bear’s stone) still stands firmly in the middle of the waterfall, but that stone collapsed in 1992.
