About the artwork

What a feeling and harmony in this poster! Not to mention that Edward McKnight Kauffer (1890-1954) was one of Europe’s most successful graphic artists and poster makers of his time.

The American Edward McKnight Kauffer moved to London early on and quickly became one of Europe’s foremost poster makers. He is best known for his posters for the London Underground (he managed to make over 140 during his time!) And his collaboration with American Airlines. This poster is a result of that collaboration: in 1950, American Airlines started flying to Stockholm from New York, and then of course they needed a poster to attract the Americans to come to Scandinavia.
