There certainly is a nice timeless atmosphere in this poster by Per Beckman. Who wouldn’t want to crawl into the cabin in this mountain landscape where the roof is made of grass and even a small birch has taken root? The chimney suggests warmth and cosiness after a day trip up the fell that stands […]

This is a French-language poster for Norway. The (unknown) artist, with the signature ”Schenk”, has used the sky to illustrate the smallness of the tourist and woman & man. Thru the poster we reverently admire the mighty mountain world. The slogan in the poster reinforces the message: Norway is a true natural wonder!

In this vintage travel poster advertising Suécia – Sweden – in Portugese the message is clear: Sweden is truly a country of colors AND contrasts. It was published in the 1950s in an effort to create a Scandinavian series of almost identical travel posters for Denmark, Sweden and (most probably) also Norway. As you can […]

Denmark put a lot of poster energy into presenting itself as a beach paradise. Which of course was and is completely true. Sven Henriksen’s poster Dänemark – Das Land des Meeres (”Denmark – Land of the Sea”) shows a country where the entire population – including the children – splash in the sea. See it […]

3rd place in the My Norden Poster poster contest 2022! In the words of the artist: I came by the idea by while waiting at the bus stop writing down different creative ways one could travel around specifically in the Nordics. I chose northern lights as a motif since they can be seen in more […]

A single lake – but countless sights! Lake Mälaren, or Lake Malar in English, is an amazing place. It spans 120 km from west to east all the way to central Stockholm. So, obviously, it needed travel poster of its own in the 1920s. For some unknown reason the Swedish State Railways saw it as […]

The artist presents her poster: Probably the most popular travel souvenir these days is the selfie. What is the essence of a Swedish selfie for me? Great nature, beautiful colors, and a little abstract sense of humor. Surely travel posters can’t simply remain a cry from the past? Absolutely not. We live in a completely […]
