This poster from Blekinge, Sweden’s second smallest county, has the slogan “Sveriges trädgård”, that translates to “the garden of Sweden”. And the county really lives up to that slogan! Despite its small size, Blekinge offers a lot for nature lovers – here we can find dense oak forests, hidden beaches, over 100 nature reserves and 800 islands in the archipelago with beuatiful cliffs and tranquility. And the harmony that pervades the landscape is truly captured in this poster, originally published in 1950.

The term “the garden of Sweden” dates back to the 18th century, and the name came about because the climate is different from the rest of Sweden. Many plants grow here that are usually found further south. Another nickname for the landscape is Sweden’s golf coast, thanks to the eight (!) different golf courses which are all within a 1 hour radius.
