Olof “Olle” Svensson was born in Stockholm in 1911. He had his own advertising studio that was named after him on Grev Turegatan in Stockholm – nowadays the house is a part of the flashy Sturegallerian at Stureplan.
Olle was also a gifted carpenter and boat builder. In the beginning of the 1950’s he built a Finn dinghy to his mother in the basement of the house on Grev Turegatan. He could barely fit the dinghy up the curved basement stairs…
Olle was also a devoted sailor. After finishing the Finn dinghy he devoted his time to build models of sailing ships. He had large fingers and it was a miracle that he managed to fiddle with the small details on the model ships.
Apart from the poster for Saltsjöbaden, Olle created a large number of posters for ABA, SAS, Konsum and different soda brands. In the end of his career Olle also made a poster for the classic Swedish Vasa warship.
