Like many Swedish artist Helge Holmgren started his career by getting a degree from Konstfack, the University of arts, crafts and design in Stockholm. Holmgren was one of the founders of the association SAFFT (Svenska affischtecknare). He was employed by the Swedish News Agency TT, and aside of that he also teached courses at Konstfack.
