Gustaf Ankarcrona

Gustaf Ankarcrona was born in Huskvarna. He was a Swedish painter, working not only in Sweden but also in Germany and Norway. He was also known for his early efforts in historical and cultural preservation, especially in Dalarna. His paintings focused on rural subject matter, often depicted in winter settings.

In addition to arts and crafts, he was also interested in building conservation and was an advocate of old farms in the villages in Dalarna. He therefore built up Holen in Tällberg into a folk museum, which today is a beautiful destination with a marvellous view of Lake Siljan.
